The short version

A 7.3 that was
taken care of.

This is a 2001 F-350 Lariat crew cab 4×4 with the 7.3L Power Stroke — the engine everybody wants and nobody wants to give up. It spent most of its life in California, came to Tennessee four years ago, and has never seen snow or road salt. No rust anywhere on it.

It's been my third vehicle, so it's been garaged and it hasn't been worked. 80,808 original miles. The transmission is a Ford remanufactured 4R100 that went in at 53,642 miles, so it has only about 27,166 miles on it — and I have the receipt.

The engine is essentially stock: air filter, high-torque starter, Spoologic stage 1 turbo and boost fooler. That's it. Nothing cut, nothing hacked. No check engine light, no codes.

Everything else on this truck is a receipt. Over $6,000 in the last six months and more than $15,000 over four years. The full list is below, dated, so you can see exactly what's new and what isn't.

  • 017.3L Power Stroke — known to run 500,000+ miles and easy to work on
  • 02Ford dealer remanufactured transmission with 27K on it, receipt in hand
  • 03Rust-free California body, repainted solid white in 2023 and garaged since
  • 0412″ custom lift with heim joints, limiting straps, and a roll cage
  • 05Brand new 40×15.50R24 tires and 24″ Fuel wheels — roughly 50 miles on them
  • 064.88 gears front and rear with a front air locker and in-cab controls
  • 072,200-watt stereo with an ATOTO A6 PL Android head unit, brand new install
  • 08Leather heated seats, 15″ overhead entertainment screen, full size spare

The parts that
cost the money

Anyone can say a truck has new suspension. Here's what's actually bolted to it.

24 inch red Fuel wheel on a 40 inch tire
June 2026
24″ Fuel wheels, 40″ tires
−44 offset with new lug nuts. Roughly 50 miles on the whole setup.
Close up of unworn tread on a 40 inch tire
Tread
Sharp edges, no wear
The mold nubs are still on the blocks. These tires have barely turned.
Twin Fox steering stabilizers mounted to the front axle
April 2026
Fox dual steering stabilizers
Two stabilizers on the drag link. Keeps 40s from wandering at speed.
Twin Fox 2.0 shocks in the wheel well
Suspension
Twin Fox 2.0 shocks per corner
Two shocks a side rather than one. Body-color-matched leaf pack behind them.
Fox shocks with a Pyrotect limiting strap on the axle
12″ lift
Limiting straps fitted
Pyrotect straps control droop so the shocks and lines aren't the travel stop.
Front axle steering linkage and heim joint
Front end
Heim joint steering
Part of the lift package. Front end rebuilt in 2022 with Detroit shafts, Spicer bearings and Warn hubs.
Mag-Hytec differential cover and four inch exhaust tip
Rear axle
Mag-Hytec cover, 4″ exhaust
Six-quart finned cover on 4.88 gears. RBP 4″ straight pipe exits ahead of the tire.
Three AutoMeter pillar gauges: trans temp, boost and pyrometer
Interior
Triple AutoMeter pillar gauges
Trans temp, boost and pyrometer. On a built 7.3 these are how you keep it alive.
Dash rocker switches for the front air locker and ARB compressor
Interior
Locker & compressor switches
Front air locker and the onboard ARB compressor, both switched from the dash.
One piece headlight and front grille
May 2026
One-piece headlights
New headlights and grille. No fogging, no yellowing, no cracked tabs.
Tailgate down showing the bed, roll cage and full size spare
Bed
Roll cage and full-size spare
Spare is a real one — matching 24″ wheel and 40″ tire, not a donut.
Full size spare wheel and tire strapped in the bed
Bed
The spare, up close
Same wheel as the four on the ground. If you flat a 40, you're not stranded.

Underneath
Frame rail and tank
Solid frame with surface patina, not rot. This is what no salt looks like at 25 years.
Underside showing the starter and transmission crossmember
